Spacestation visible above Alanya

Did you know that it is actually possible to observe the International Space Station (ISS) from Alanya?

The ISS itself is orbiting at an altitude of just 400km above the surface of the earth and is therefor quite close to us (relatively speaking).
In the same time the speed of the orbit makes the spacestation circle the entire earth app. every 90. minute.

At night when the light is reflected of the ISS you can therefor observe it without using any equipment.

At Nasa web site the sighting opportunities are listed: http://spaceflight1.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/cities/view.cgi?country=Turkey&region=None&city=Ankara

You can also follow the exact current position of the ISS here: http://www.isstracker.com/

So take a look at the time listing, get out on the balcony and look towards the west...

Good luck and enjoy...
